What is SharePlay?
Simply put, SharePlay is a content sharing application. This software works over FaceTime. With SharePlay, users can share their screens with others. You can watch the same movie and listen to the same music at the same time. During a FaceTime call, you get the opportunity to watch movies and TV shows together. Yo can do this on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
SharePlay came with the iOS 15 update released in October 2021. It makes it possible to take part in the same broadcast with different device types. Your friend may be using an Apple TV while you are using an iPhone. When you start the FaceTime call, you can start watching the same broadcast stream. For this, it is enough that you and the person you are talking to have iOS 15 and above. At this point, apps also need to offer support for this new spec. Many popular video streaming apps have started to support SharePlay. You can start using FaceTime and SharePlay on Android devices as well.

How to Use It?
Follow the steps below to start SharePlay during a FaceTime call.
- Start a FaceTime call.
- Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
- From the list, open the video streaming application that supports SharePlay.
- Select the content you want to watch from the list. If your device asks, click the SharePlay button.
- Your content will start playing on you and your friend’s screen.
- You or your friend can pause the content, start it again.
Video streaming and video calling are becoming more and more popular day by day. Apple and other companies may come up with different solutions in this area in the coming days.
